CL: Hi.

Audience screams.

CL: Craig, did you lose my iPhone? Ok, before I start, I gave Craig my iPhone so somebody could take pictures. Who’s got my iPhone?

Audience screams.

CL: No, where is it? Down front row? I just have to ?? I was gonna…oh, oh, thank you so much. Alright. So just take pictures and videos and don’t run off with it, ok? Alright.

CL: Pretend that didn’t happen.

CL: This is small, man. This is not ?? It’s all clean and shit.

– PRETTY ON THE INSIDE

– SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL

She changes the lyric from “You can just call me Lucifer” to “You can just call me Courtney.”

– SKINNY LITTLE BITCH

CL: Thank you. I haven’t had a club this small in so long. This is cool. I’m into it. It’s like we could all be cousins. Y’all, let’s do our oldie.

– MISS WORLD

CL: (CUT) no one in the world, but sometimes he can’t do math. We call him Dragon. Give him a hand.

Audience screams.

CL: He’s put up with (CUT)

– CLOSER

Courtney takes off a black t-shirt (she has a shirt on underneath).

– THE MAN THAT GOT AWAY

– VIOLET

CL: (CUT) I know. Thank you so much, um, and then I feel like in small venues, everywhere where we play them, I feel like the people that watch the news…do you know what I’m talking about? Like, they don’t like my music. I feel like four of them are here tonight. I’m not pointing you out…and…and you don’t like rock…you know what I’m talking about, kind of a track suit kind of….(Dumb voice) Oh, it’s Courtney Love, she’s on the news a lot. Let’s go. (Normal voice) For you four people who watch the news, I’ve been doing this for twenty…no, I’ve been getting paid to do this for twenty-two years.

Audience screams.

CL: That’s more than half my life…no, it’s not more than half my life.

CL: (To someone in the audience) Did you say play ?? ?? That’s a good idea.

Micko plays a few chords.

CL: Oh, Micko. First of all, that shouldn’t have been for a single on the album. No way. It’s not our song.

CL: (To the audience) What are you saying? Whatever.

(CUT)

– ???

– LETTER TO GOD

– REASONS TO BE BEAUTIFUL

– HONEY

CL: (CUT) that is so perverted? Like, Leonard Cohen songs when you’re two? Whatever. I know. Did you guys see my fat sister?

Audience screams.

CL: That’s my family. I put her through Stanford. Isn’t Gwar from here? I stayed here once at their house when me and Billy Pumpkin were going out. That’s a long time ago, man, that’s like 90s. Most of you weren’t born…1990? How many of you were born in 1990?

Audience screams.

CL: Ok. How many of you were not born in 1990?

Audience screams.

CL: That’s better. I like hearing that. Ok.

CL: So Leonard Cohen is this singer/songwriter from Canada and he’s probably the best lyricist alive, in case you didn’t know that.

Opening chords to Take This Longing.

CL: (To someone in the audience) Dude, this is for you.

– TAKE THIS LONGING

CL: (CUT) It was my third rehab (Laughs)…but no, it worked, so I wrote this song. Ok. Shut up. I got…it’s called a C chord…hold on, let me find it. Uh, uh…

– PLUMP

CL: Little dick, big dick, little dick, big dick. Now we’re gonna do medium dick.

CL: (To someone in the audience) Next time I come back, I will do ?? It’s just good lyrics. I don’t know.

– MALIBU

– ???

– ???

– SUNSET MARQUIS

CL: (CUT) because I wanted that shirt and I wanted those pants, the way you raised me, I never had a chance…and you…now you see on television. Look what they did to me. At least I have good hair.

– BOYS ON THE RADIO

CL: Thank you. Goodnight. Obviously we’ll come back, but only if you’re loud. You know, for, like, 400 people you’ve been a wonderful audience. Seriously.

(Encore break)

– ???

– DOLL PARTS

– NEVER GO HUNGRY

– PLAY WITH FIRE

CL: Thank you for our little sludge songs (??). We could do…(To someone in the audience) we did Stand Up Motherfucker last night, we did Sunset Marquis tonight. Ok, so all these other people will be alienated by that…so we have to play a song they sort of know. I’ll play demos for you all night some other time, baby.

CL: Oh, oh, oh…no guitar on this. (She takes off the guitar).

CL: Alright. There was a man and he was from ’round about these here parts, um…and his name was Alex Chilton and he passed away and he wrote this very, very, very, very beautiful song that Elliott Smith once covered and, um, I hope we’re able do it justice. Thank you.
