In 1993, while attending Concordia University, Melissa formed her first band with guitarist Steve Durand, a fellow student. They were initially joined by Sanjay Mulay-Sha as a second guitarist and Alex McSween on drums. After Jordan Zadorozny replaced Mulay-Sha on guitar and Tony Labao replaced McSween on drums, the band released two 7 inch singles, Realalie/Saxon Princess and Green Machine/Gnosis, on Bear Records in 1994. Melissa left to join Hole in the Summer of ’94, but Tinker continued to record music until 1996.
